The real voyage of DISCOVERY
consists in not seeking new landscapes
but in having new eyes.
Marcel Proust
my apologies for lack there of visiting
we have been on a bit of adventure
DISCOVERIES
have been made
for the past few weeks
all content from our bedroom
has been moved into our living room
the ceiling has been scraped
and my love and littles
primed and textured the walls
we went on a floor shopping voyage
and as we were leaving my love says
"you know...i didn't even think about it
but when have tongue~groove flooring all through the house
i noticed it awhile ago when i was under the house"
i was speechless
just looked at him with a puzzled look
and then took a deep breath and asked
"could we not use that for flooring"
cut to the chase
DISCOVERING BEAUTY
THAT HAS always RESIDED IN OUR HOME
we.have.wood.flooring
this is the first look
after pulling the carpet
sub flooring and tar paper up
my love asks
"what do you think"
"i love it"
my love and wee older one hard at work
we rented a sander and the fun began
is that not GORGEOUS
this little handy dandy tool
performed wonders on our floor
floor finished being sanded
next up
my love and i worked on a new closet
this excites me greatly
not so much that we have tons of clothing
but we live in a pretty cozy home
which in turn
does not leave much storage space
so this here closet
will be lined with shelves on one side
and two hanging bars on the other
a glimpse thus far
{the dry wall went up last night...too lazy to go take pic}
more to come in the days ahead

Oh what a flash-back! Our previous home had (after we pulled up linoleum *area rugs* and subfloor) heart poplar tongue and groove flooring. The floor sander was a bit of a pip to adjust to, but the floors afterward~~~EXCELLENT! Looks like you might have yellow pine?
You will SOOOOOO love it!!!
Happy dance here!

Oh lucky you to find such nice wood under your carpet and to be getting a new closet. Can't wait to see it all finished.
wood floors excite me too. soft and smooth from wind and rain or flooring for wee feet(s).
this is a special find, a gift.
happy everything, happy week.
((hugs)
Beautiful floor, and nice closet! We too are in the midst of making changes around the homestead that we have now officially bought (all that house buying paperwork and fun tax forms set me back a bit last week, but I will be mailing your gift this afternoon--I hope you love it!) Wishing you all the best <3
Now that's what I call a true labor of love for something so beautiful! It's so wonderful to find surprises like wood floors esp. one's that add such delight to the senses.
I love how all of you are working together! Looks great!!! I simply love hardwood floors. In our new house we have some rooms with carpeting which, of course, I plan to pull up some day. But for now, our projects have been many and also expensive. The carpet removal is not top on the list but one day it will be.... ;)
what a find!
we have always sanded existing wooden floors or laid some down. i loooove wooden floors, so i understand your excitement. and of course, cost-effective too.
anything storage related is a happy place for me. lol
I love old wooden floors, they are so beautiful!
We've lovely wood floors in my new apartment. I am so happy with it.

Oh what lovely natural wood floors!!!! :) And how wonderful they look all sanded and shined. :) Cannot wait to see the progress of your bedroom. I know it will be beautiful!
B-how wonderful that you discovered such a great floor under the carpet; looks like a heap of good things happening in your household - and everyone is into it - a real family affair. I'm intrigued by the square of shorter boards - almost looks like a mysterious cellar. Go well. B
beautiful floors - congrats on your discovery <3
photos my dear? pretty please :)
First of all, when I read the title of this post....I thought there would be graphics of .... well.... penises.
Second of all, I can't wait to see the final product of your happy floors!
