"You stand up for what you believe in, even if it gets you in the way of what others think..."

My photo
if i could use one word to describe my life SERENDIPITY seems to fit the space... i stumbled upon my husband during a time i shouldn't have and my story goes on from there... constantly falling or stumbling upon remarkable gifts and people who bring fortune to our lives... when we fall we learn and strive toward the next step.

52 projects...week 45...Diane's challenge~

http://52paintedhouseprojects.blogspot.com/

nov. 30

if ever there has been a challenge
that stumped me
made me want to throw my hands up
and wave my white rag
surrender myself to the creative gods

well this was it

i commend
a thousand times over
EVERY
jewelry maker

for i am not one

remember awhile back
i shared with you all that
was hosting a
challenge

and little ol me said to myself
and to each of you
oh i think this sounded like great fun

a challenge that would incorporate
brass bits
creating a piece from such

and i had my grandmothers crystals and pearls
and had thought what better way
than to recreate a piece from these

WOW
this
WAS
a
CHALLENGE

through this process
i have gained a far greater respect
for each who can create such gorgeous pieces
working with enormous amounts of patience
taking bits and bobs
and
turning them into
magnificent pieces
for people to treasure
and wear

thank you so
for creating such a wonderful challenge

Creating jewelry given the tiny pieces to be arranged for beauty would require infinite patience. Stunning!

Jewelry made from keepsakes shares the memories.

As soon as I saw those lacy brass beads, I flashed back to a necklace I had as a kid in the 60s with those exact same beads, plus some kind of brassy tassel at the end. I haven't remembered or thought of that necklace in years -- simply years! Thanks for the trip down memory lane via your own lovely necklace!

Well we do need to challenge ourselves now and again don't we. And sometimes we don't know when those challenges will be more than we expect. You did a wonderful job with your challenge non the less. It's a beautiful necklace.

This is a beautiful piece - !!! I know what you mean about it being harder than it looks!!! I was playing with some leftover beads and stones and copper wire, trying to fashion something like your beautiful calming beads (hope you don't mind!)my daughter called mine zen sticks! Bending the wire, getting it just right - it is not as easy as it looks!!! I love that you used bits from your grandmother's necklace in your creation- makes it that much more dear....

Sounds like the challenge lived up to it's name! But sure aren't they not the best ones. I absolutely love what you've created and the thought behind it is so touching. I'm sure your grandmother would be very proud of you :)
Hope you're having a wonderful day,
Roisin x
