The Plane Tree

Aesops Fable

Two travelers, walking in the hot sun,

sought the shade of a large tree to rest.

 As they lay looking up among the pleasant leaves,

they saw that it was a plane tree.

"How useless is the Plane!" said one of them,

"it bears no fruit whatever,

and only serves to litter the ground with leaves."

The plane tree interrupted him with quiet dignity,

"Shame on you, ungrateful creatures.

You come and take shelter under me from the scorching sun,

 and then, in the very act of enjoying the cool shade of my foliage, you call me good for nothing!"

Don't forget:

our best blessings

 are often the least appreciated!

so true how some may look at life

"just a useless tree"

yet it provides

and gives

so much

do you watch

observe

each seasons change

do you awaken your spirit

let it free

to embrace the time that has been given

or do wander past all their glorious sights

never noticing their change

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature's first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold,

Her early leaf's a flower;

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down to day.

Nothing gold can stay.

such fleeting beauty

that if your are not looking

it will pass before you in a blink of an eye

you will look and only then see

the bare branches of winter time

How silently they tumble down

And come to rest upon the ground

To lay a carpet, rich and rare,

Beneath the trees without a care,

Content to sleep, their work well done,

Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly

Until they nearly reach the sky.

Twisting, turning through the air

Till all the trees stand stark and bare.

Exhausted, drop to earth below

To wait, like children, for the snow



do not walk by today

without opening your eyes

to see the change

 

 

as quickly as autumn comes

 

 

more quickly does it all disappear

 

 

In autumn when the trees are brown

The little leaves come tumbling down

They do not make the slightest sound

But lie so quietly on the ground

Until the wind comes puffing by

And blows them off towards the sky.

The winds will blow their own freshness into you,

and the storms their energy,

while cares will drop away from you

like the leaves of Autumn.
