seamen say
that
seagulls
are the
spirits of fallen fisherman
growing up
there was
"sammy seagull"
he was everywhere
and
he was ours
{ok...not really but thats what my grandfather told us}
whenever we were by the water
we were always
in the presence of one
i longed for these visits
spoke quietly to thee
always wondering who could this be
as the years have gone by
and children now of my own
i share with them
the same stories i was told
yet i ask of them
could this be
i think it could
your grandmother you see
staying around
to let you know she is still here
always...this day...forever
one could only imagine
the blissful feeling
we encountered
when
this one
graced us with its presence
what you can not see
{is this one chose to sit on the hood of our car...minute after minute...until we finished and started the car}
Carefree attitude...Versatility...Freedom
was this her
~one can always wish for such & believe~

The post reminded me of something. A few years back when I went to the beach, there was a sea gull with only one leg. I remember feeling so sorry for him until I saw what a bully he was. He's chase all the other gulls away and take all the food for himself. It was actually a show. Just goes to show you that even with a handicap, one can soar above the others.

Lovely post....and yes, I think it just may have been. The omens are everywhere if we just believe and have faith in them. Your pictures are beautfiful as always...Angie
this is a great thought...my children and i have this belief that my mom...their grandma, who passed away 6 years ago, sends hummingbirds to visit us when she can.t do it for herself...it always makes us smile and they show up in the most unexpected wonderful places.
you are a dear. thank you also for your never ending sweet comments on my blog...i deeply appreciate it.

Such wonderful images- both visually and mentally! Great post!
I adored this post for many reasons...most specifically, our beloved boxer Dempsey (nicknamed Sweetie) died last November and this Summer a chubby and cranky (Dempsey's two prominent features) pidgeon has taken residence in our backyard. We call him Sweetiebird.
