 Facts About Thyme
Fairies are said to love thyme.
In France and England, people often created
a bed of thyme to attract fairies
and make them feel at home in the garden.

Oberon, the king of the fairies in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, says,
"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,"
referring to the bed of thyme in which Titania, the fairy queen, sleeps.

A 17th century recipe with thyme as one of the main ingredients
claims to enable people to see fairies.

I shall tell you what you are

Lavender is my herb ally...I love to eat it, drink it and roll in it! The purple basil is just gorgeous too. Lucky you to have found everything half off!

beautiful herbs, I need to go to the store yet I know that I am a sucker for plants and with the terrible heat I do not want to plant anything yet. Although your herbs have definately tempted me...

Love those herbs. I used to have mint, basil, parsley, and oregano. Nothing like the fresh stuff.

Herbs have always been my favorites...for cooking and for smelling! My daughter came home from college in June with a pot of lavender...lovely!!

I shall have to tell my daughter that thyme is the fairies favourite herb (and that it helps you to see them! Cool!!) I pretty much cannot resist a plant sale, but the hot weather here also precludes much planting. Beautiful photos
