a lovely artist to go see!
for months we were living our lives all discombobulated from events that had unexectedly unfolded...seeing or sitting around our dinner table was an obstacle..but we always ate together...well for the most part...new years eve...the table was finally cleared and we sat as we once did and ate together...around a structure..a structure that somehow brings forth a sense of foundation, routine, harmony, family...i pulled out a piece of paper and we all took turns writing what we hoped for, what we all wanted, experiences we craved...the next day as we gathered for breakfast our littlest said "ok ready...wheres the paper" and so our list grew
amazing what one thing can evolve into in just a couple days of being back, grounded by this round piece of wood...a ritual...a routine has been instilled...our littlest excited to be there, encouraging us to do as we have the last few days...such a simple thing in life...a table..that manifests wonderful feelings, memories and much laughter...
so as i was cleaning yesterday i stumbled across an oatmeal container made by the hands of our child...
hands so pure & innocent...hands that create such beauty..hands that hold no limitation or reservations in the art they create...it is decorated with tiny bits of tissue paper our oldest had made many years ago...this container has drifted through our house, never really having a place or home...yearning to be used...me never quite knowing a place for it and then it came to me...
we have all sat circled around writing what we hope to achieve and what we hope to bring more of into our lives, so why not write down each week what we feel blessed for...at first i thought daily and decided that would be a bit overkill so i have settled on each week...
52 weeks in a year...this at the end of 2010 will leave us with a container that holds only feelings of being blessed...we can reflect upon our words written that last week of december and put them into a family journal...1 sweetly decorated oatmeal container will now hold our blessings each week until it is brimming to the top with only kind words...
i feel blessed because...
i feel blessed because...

awesome way to put his art into use. do you think i can copy this concept and get 'you know who' to participate?
What a beautiful idea, and a wonderful way to use that box!
