a new school year has started
and so lessons have began again
two littles
spending time creating with clay
i had a chance to watch my oldest
LIVE at the WHEEL
one sits himself quietly down
he takes a ball of clay
slowly working into a round
are you ready
swiftly he gives a throw
carefully placing it in the center
one ball of clay ready to go
always water by his side
gives the sponge a little soak
and the clay receives a couple of drips
one wheel slowly coming alive
one pair of hands becoming one with the clay
round and round it goes
fingers gently guide its form
GRACE
Seemingly effortless
beauty or charm of movement,
form, or proportion
A characteristic or quality pleasing for its charm or refinement.
watching him create
carefree
not a thought in his mind
i kept thinking
GRACE
ever so fluid his hands moved
it was as if watching a beautifully orchestrated song
though no music was played
i felt i could feel and hear such song
looking through the lense of my camera
in awe i was feeling
my breath he was stealing
with the magik in making
the pure beauty of his creating
be still my heart
sheer bliss was this moment
pure joy filled my every being
watching his hands
gentle as can be
truly amazing is he
a mamas moment
she will savor forever
one little at the wheel
~forever inspired he has left me~

Now I have an urge to take a ceramics class. it's been 15 years since I last sat at a wheel and I remember it being a challenge, one that was so absorbing and magical that the challenge seemed to disappear. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.
My daughter has just recently obtained her own wheel and is starting again to mold her clay...she's very excited about what she is creating...
The hearts, hands and imagination of a child....bring their parents joy beyond any description :)
I've never used a potter's wheel and I am in awe of anyone who knows how to perform the magick of wheel and clay. Beautiful little bowl!

My hugs and love to you,

Fabulous images! The motion effect made it more like a video than a series of still shots; I felt as though I was watching the wheel spin! On another note, it would appear you have passed on the creative genes :)
Oh my goodness! This made me tear up - beautiful photos and cute little hands doing something that I have always wanted to try. . . . I love this, xo
How wonderful and I can see why you were proud! He did a wonderful job; and from your photos, it looked like he was quite comfortable in creating something beautiful and useful from a simple ball of clay. Theresa
I know that I always write these really long comments and posts. But to this, my words have been stolen away and all I can say is... "wow!"
