The beating pulse of pain to calm"

~June is for~
Rose
Easily one of the most well-known and significant flowers,
the rose is the perfect choice for celebrating a June birthday.
Roses can convey a wealth of varying symbolism,
but all roses carry a meaning of love and appreciation.
Medicinal properties:
(infusion) headaches/ dizziness, w/ honey heart & nerve tonic, (decoction of petals) mouth sores, and uterine cramps, (w/ wine as mouthwash) toothache, (cold compress) headache, (trickled into ear) ear ache, (rose honey) sore throat.
Magical properties:
Used in love and harmony spells. Roses planted in your garden will attract fairies. Rose petals sprinkled around the house will calm stress and reduce household upheavals.
Many people associate roses with love
so it should come as no surprise
that roses are often used in love spells.
To attract love,
make incense using roses and burn while thinking loving thoughts. When performing love spells, place a single rose on the altar or wear a necklace of roses (remove thorns).
To bring about prophetic dreams, drink rosebud tea.
This works especially well
for seeing who your love will be.
Plant roses in the garden to attract fairies.
Fairies protect the house and those who live there.
To attract good luck
carry a sachet of rose petals, clover and pennyroyal.
You can also hang the sachet above your front door and acknowledge the luck it will bring you that day.
Toss rose petals all around the house
to ease stress and household tension.
rose water
Making your own is relatively easy. Gather some fresh dark red damask roses (or your favorite red, smelly ones!) preferably organically grown and definitely pest and pesticide free.
Infuse in very hot, distilled water for 45 minutes.
Strain and contain. Unfortunately, because it is a pure form and contains no preservatives it should be kept in a sealed jar in the fridge. Outside of the fridge it will only keep for about 4 or 5 days.
