“A wise old owl sat on an oak;
The more he saw
the less he spoke;
The less he spoke
the more he heard;
Why aren't we
like that wise old bird?”
unknown
the rain let up for awhile yesterday
we snuck outside to call some birds
this is a beautiful book for all ages
picture perfect images
and descriptions to go along
they best part is
you can call little birdies
the time spent in quiet
priceless if i may
patience being taught
without even teaching
one little one
startled by a friend
this little one was calling mr. crow
could you spend a moment or two
attracting some new friends

I think I'll look into this book for my Grandkids...singing with the birds...I think I'd like that myself...
What a neat book -- with built-in bird call recordings! So cool!
I so love to watch my birds... It is a wonderful way to teach children about the many varieties of them. thank you for sharing
I plan on spending today on my patio reading and listening to the birds, one of my favorite things to do.
Have a nice day to hun.
Sounds like a good book. In the morning, the birds are talking alot and it's nice to hear. Have a good day.
Great book. Ironically, here in the city, I am awoken every morning at 5 am by the singing of the birds. Many people find that hard to believe living in the city, but I've many trees in my neighborhood...and many birds. I love having them awaken me. So much better than that nasty alarm.

Oh, I will have to check this out!
We went to the zoo yesterday and we called all the animals "bear friend" or "gorilla friend" so they would know we didn't mean them any harm. Funny, the mind of a 5 year old.
I love the image of a bird. I've always wanted to learn a bit more about them. Sometimes when I'm out on a lake in the middle of nowhere on my kayak I see various birds and think I should pack some binoculars and a bird book in my storage cargo.
I will have to find this book.....I love listening to all the birds in my yard.....and what a neat way to spend a morning. This will be a great thing to do with my little one this summer.
That looks like a book my 2 year old son would absolutely love! He always loves to hear the birds sing. I'll have to find this for him.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog for a visit, I really appreciate your sweet comment.
Have a great day.
Sincerely,
Melinda
There's a little something for you on my dream blog.

This is one of our favorite books. But there are so many birds that we never see in our neck of the woods...but I love the birdsongs anyway. This is a delightful post. Thanks.

I didn't have to go looking for them...they have come to me and built a robin's nest in the honey suckle vine growing up my patio post. I can sit out on the patio and look between the cracks between the floor boards and see 4 beautiful blue eggs. I can't wait till they hatch.
