~The Sick Fairy~
Brew some tea o' cowslips, make some poppy-gruel,
Serve it in a buttercup — ah, 'tis very cruel,
That she is so ailing, pretty Violetta!
Locust, stop your violin, till she's feeling better.
about two week ago
we ended january with one big one coming home
feeling not so well
the rest of us had made it past
no germs to be caught
till last thursday one woke up
with sugarballs in their throat
those lovely sugarballs turned into a hacking wicked cough
a nose ever so congested
an energy that came to a hault
one big one seemed to get better with each day that passed
and i and our littlest had managed to keep all at bay
until yesterday morning 1:30 am to be exact
our littlest awoke
103 temp and break through seizures to add
so together we sat and rested
while the wee early minutes of morning ticked by
dozing on and off
talking of dreams ever so sweet
one big one calls home later that day
to share with me they just don't know
a tooth ache on top of a bug come back
all were in bed by 7:00pm that last night
when what to my surprise
not really so
is me awaking
knowing its here...
my body has surrendered
given in to the fight
one littlest awakes with me at 3:00am
body radiating heat
mama i just can't sleep
so one finally has been swept away
to a land of dreams ever so sweet
and here i am
accepting i am sick
wonder whats brewing for the rest of the day

sorry to hear you are sick.. yet.. your manner in which telling the story made me feel as if I truly was swept off to the land of Fae and in a household of wee ones. Beautifully told...Hope all of you are better soon

Oh my goodness. After being sick and tending other sick ones and lacking sleep I'm not sure how you pulled off such a work of poetry, but I do hope you all are feeling better very soon!
