in my ever loving qwest to concoct something new, i tweeked my grandmother's recipe (honestly don't know where she got it but she claimed it as hers & my mother passed it down to me!) i made adjustments, one being no shortning replaced with coconut oil~ thanks to a sweetpea of a friend at http://turtleoak.blogspot.com/ who is forever enlightening me on healthier choicers....mine were very fragile & soft to work with & a bit of a crisp...my grandmother's are the fluffiest softest you will ever eat...just double the recipe below...replace coconut oil with shortning, replace baking powder with 1 tsp baking sode & 1 tsp cream of tarter (these 2 are doubled for you....do not double ). if i have tuely confused you feel free to email me.
~sugar YULE cookies~
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup coconut oil (replaced the shortning)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup powder sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp vanilla
2 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder (ran out of cream of tarter, ommitted baking soda & cream of tarter)
1 tsp salt ( replaced with sea salt)
cream butter, coconut oil & sugar till fluffly...add egg...mix...add vanilla...mix (if want color add now!)
sift flour, baking powder & salt...
add slowly to wet ingrediants...mixing in between
form ball, cut in half...wrap & chill atleast 1/2 hour
preheat oven 350 degrees
sprinkle surface, rolling pin & dough with flour
roll, cut (we use stars, gnomes, holly leaf, ect..) decorate & bake for 8 mins...remove..let cool & eat!

Now I want cookies and it's only 8am!!! I haven't even made my green smoothie yet - much less drank any of it and here I am day dreaming about cookies.
